The Brooklyn Hospital offers a unique Emergency Medicine Rotation for 3rd and 4th year medical students. We offer a 4 week block where students rotate in our emergency department. Students will gain skills in seeing and evaluating patients, performing focused history and physical exams, making a differential diagnosis and plan independently. Students will take ownership of their patients and not just be a reporter of information, but will think like an emergency medicine physician. The Brooklyn Hospital rotation is extremely hands on and students will perform a variety of procedures including peripheral IV line, suturing, splints, ultrasound, and assisting with advanced procedures including lumbar punctures, central lines, and intubations. The rotation is clinically based with most of your time learning in the emergency department, but will also including learning through morning report, lecture days and also have the opportunity to participate in simulation labs.
